That hog did't suffer. The gun he used is one of the most powerful handguns in the world - I know, I have the same gun S&W 460XVR = FTW. By the way for those of you who do not hunt (I do) a hog that size is useless for eating. The best size hog for eating is one that has not matured completely. The meat on the hog in that picture is tough as hell. Kind of a waste IMO. Looks like they shot it for sport more than anything. Lastly, the article is incorrect. The gun used does not shoot .50 caliber bullets.

That particular gun shoots 45 Long Colt, 454 Casull, and the .460 (badass round). I also have a .44 mag which is not as powerful as the .460 and it kicks like a motherfucker. What I am trying to figure out is how in the hell an 11 year old kid could even shoot that gun without dropping it. With that gun they could have easily done a headshot and dropped him with one bullet. If they really wanted the meat then why destroy a good portion of it with 8 cannon blasts? yeah.... a whole 700 pounds of sausage. they didn't need that and i doubt any family would get through it (could they even store it?). and if sausage is all they can make with it, then the meat quality is too shit to sell on etc. of course it was a trophy hunt, your deluding yourself if you think otherwise. the fact they let the 11 yr old go after it with a hand gun points to this. if it really were hunting to satisfy their needs, they wouldn't have risked it getting away... and no, the point is not just to benefit the killer... hunting is about balance. your killing of animals not only benefits you, but benefits other species, like those who may be prey for the hunted animal (or vegetation), or other animals of the same species who now have more food to go around making them healthier etc. work it out for yourself. hunting that only benefits the killer ALWAYS leads to extinction of said species, which actually is NOT benefitting said hunter in the long term because his over hunting vastly diminishes his existing foodstocks. anybody who hunts, and doesn't realise this, shouldn't be allowed hunt imo. oh and smack, hippies would be among the last people to go to a zoo. most of 'em think it's wrong to confine animals. maybe you should use your fucking head before you type, mmmk? well maybe that was a bit harsh.... depends on your definition of hippy i suppose. yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

As for "hippies", we all have our own thoughts as to a "hippy", and I guess mine simply was the idea of one who was against killing of animals at all........I've used "hippy" in other contexts before, but in this thread, that would have been my thought of what I felt a hippy was being referred to.........not a PETA supporter......

ALWAYS does NOT imply ONLY......but the killer KILLS for a purpose, regardless of whether it is for "fun" (purpose = enjoyment) or for "food" (purpose = sustinence)....either way, the killer ALWAYS benefits in some way. My points have been about eating the animal, as I am opposed to the "sport" of killing for the sake of killing (i.e. trophy hunting) and I've made that clear. Just because you'd like to twist words to prove an argument one way or another is moot......as I have laid out my opinion and you don't agree with it, despite having to twist and allude to things which have not been said or are not accurate portrayals of my opinion.
