I've been thinking of putting together a strategy guide for TF2. Old Guy's post got me thinking that a lot of players can benefit from this, and it sure would be fun, recording videos and trying stuff out with you guys. I can provide pointers on the Spy class, and I know a lot of you leet players have something to say about other classes as well. In the end we can slap on a {pDs} tag on the product, and that would give us a bit of traffic, as stuff like this always gets eaten up by the public.
I'm thinking of starting something small, and doing it in chunks. What do you think? Plausible?

Go for it. back in the day this forum used be littered with strategies for individual maps, guides to bunny hopping in DM and so on. if you've got advice post i'm. i can make it a sticky, or gather a bunch of threads in a sticky or whatever. and you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time. yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

Sounds cool.
Class: General info on how to play each class regardless of map.
Examples: Abushing as spy or pyro, how to be a good medic, basic engineering, etc
Class per Map: How each class can utilize the map to the fullest.
Examples: Where to put tele's or SG's, good sniper spots, ambush areas for spys / pyros,
Team tactics: General info on team play regardless of map.
Examples: Communication, class mix, defensive play during SD, why medics heal medics as a priority
Team tactics per Map: How a team can perform tactics specific to the map.
Examples: The break though engy method on warpath, scout rushing granery, counter scout rushing, CTF paths in/out 2fort.
The list could be long and hard to organize but not impossible.

Hey, it's good to hear the feedback. The list is indeed huge. But we can start somewhere.
The voyeur in us
There are plenty of guides out there, but I find the best ones are those done in video, IMHO. Written content for our guide is great, but only video footage of us actually performing said stunts will pull viewers in. Plus, who wants to hear a grumpy guy talk about how he could syringe gun a turret 'in theory' or what he would have done to take down that heavy in that situation?
This wiki guide shows you how to record yourself playing, and how to watch that playback again. (Simply, it's just the console commands 'record demo1' and 'playdemo demo1'.)
It's trippy as hell watching yourself get owned. With that in mind, I will start recording my sessions on the Tempest servers and looking at what I am doing here and there.
Two intended goals:
1. Clarifying things. i.e. If a beginner asked for spy tips right now, I'd probably say 'I dunno' and logoff. I have no idea what I'm doing half the time; stabbing people and running away afterwards is part of me now. :P I can't quite put words to it. But watching myself do it, I am sometimes amazed by the details that go into it like where I choose to uncloak, how I watch for the engie to put his gun down before ganking him. I'm sure you'll find the same thing with other classes. Plus, it's effing healthy as hell, like rubbing lotion all over yourself as you gaze lovingly into the mirror.
2. Having the footage. The good sections of our demos will eventually be referred to as examples of what to do (and what NOT to do). Teenagers will be fapping to it on youtube too, hopefully. The point is that with video editting software we can start compiling our data, and group them together as 'sections'. Contributors can also comment on each other's footage, what leet strategy he pulled there, what we missed, etc.
So expect to see footage of me dying repeatedly and being mowed down by Darren's lawn-mowing machine soon. I want to say that at this point I want to get more people on board. Regulars who are NOT in pDs are effing welcome; you guys own at what you do. If it's just a few comments on our idea, or letting us watch your demos and fapping to it, I will take it.
Final comments: The point of all this? Helping others, generating attention for pDs, building community. Even for good players it will be helpful. I'd pay to see how Daniel kills so many guys with a demoman. Some of you will learn to be anti-spy experts from watching spy videos.
I will be shamelessly promoting this idea on the servers (OMG guys let's make some TF2 videos) and it'd be helpful if you guys help spread the word (even if it's YA RLY TF2 videos are great letz do it LOL).

i have a habit of playing random now... just to fool around with all the classes ... id say my top classes are pyro, soldier, and sniper ......though im not exactly PRO !.... i feel pretty confident with them... and would like to help contribute to the guide in any way.. maybe written stuff..... we need to get this organized and doing it slowly....
