I tried the trial a while ago...it was fun, but i have to say that for a newbie with no in-game friends...Navigation around the starcharts was daunting...
I was like: oh my god....how do I even find the right star? Sufficed to say I spent about 3 hours randomly jumping around trying to find my way to a system that should have only taken me 3 jumps to get to...

Game is not fun for new players at all, basically. Use all combinations of third parties; other players, websites, and definitely download Evemon; to learn the in and outs of the game. And once you do that, start aiming for the ships you want to fly, plan training queues, etc. But most of all join a good, newb-friendly corp. Thats the best thing to ensure you have a good experience. I just joined an alliance that's currently warring with Goonswarm et al. We just did a 20-man roaming game through their region. Fun stuff.

obviously it was designated as his. The thing is I wasted almost every rat in the room and I'm positive the one I hit was one I sunk. Plus we were in a fleet.
