figure (a)

My bedframe is broken. Again. I'm tired of fixing it, so I've moved my mattress to the floor thusly. I need the help of wdfnews so that I can sleep in my bed again without fear of it breaking. As the scientific illustration illustrates, this is my bed. The red boxes are meant to be covered by wood slats pictured in figures (b) and (c)

figure (b)
These wood slats are meant to be arranged vertically across the red boxes shown in figure (a). Here's the trouble, wdfnews.

figure (c)

Here are the wood slats arranged in an ideal fashion. Whenever any force is applied in the direction of the arrows against the side of the bedframe, the wood slats fall off of their rest and give way, causing the mattress to fall through the bedframe, leading to a number of booboos. This usually happens when I am sitting on the side of the bed, or am simply getting out of bed on that side. I have hurt my legs, and one time, my shin, on this. I am reaching out to the wdfnews community for help. Please. All delta does is make fun of me for getting the gank bedframe, but it's what I have to work with. Can you guys help me find a solution to this? Basically, I'm looking for a way to secure the slats so that they don't fall out of place. Thanks in advance.

HAHAHA

I find it funny that the person who taught me about bittorrent is using MS paint to post pictures!

It's hillarious.

around 2 in the morning EVERY NIGHT, I hear a loud THUD, and then triple cussing his brains out. Please don't fix this problem. It's too funny.

If I understand your situation, then solution is simple: You need to shimmy the planks to keep them from sliding. They obviously have too much room, so a shimmy to make it nice and snug. Pennies might do. I dunno. I'd have to be there, or have better pics. Good luck!

EDIT : Or velcro strips on the rails and the planks.

I have wooden planks for my bed as well. Mine came with bolts that attach to a couple of them to prevent the slipping. However, even without the bolts mine rests firmly...

Seems like someone fucked up on the measurements or you lost some bolts.

1.) Screw the slats in place

-or-

2.) Replace slats with plywood or fiberboard cut-outs.

NOT rocket science. More sleep, less gaming. lols

You could add wood along the length of the box extending the area those lats sit on.  Could affix them with screws or add a cable pulling the middle of the box into itself - like pinching a French Fry.  Mmm.  French Fries . . .

What was I saying?

Oh yeah, whatever the solution, it will require power tools or lots of elbow grease.  You can add a 2x4 or 1x2 to the edge there easily with a drill and a screwbit.  Do you own power tools?

And exactly what are you doing in the middle of the night that causes the lats to fall?
You should be more like Cantrip.

do you need the bed frame? I never really understood their purpose. What's wrong with a mattress on the ground? If it's too low get one of those box spring things to go under it.
