definitely possible
it would actually make sense to have him gain 1-2 hp every time he hit someone with the minigun

They won't be making any weapon that heals the heavy, if you read the developer's blog that they created just so that you could read this stuff and know it.... they said they aren't going to do anything that would improve on what a heavy/medic already have going for them.

Yes, but the healing doesn't improve on the heavy/medic combo.  It just makes the heavy more useful on his own, something that they said they were specifically aiming at.

I did read the blog. that's why I posted that. They said (on the blog) that they are looking for ways to make the heavy less dependant on the medic. Of course they are not going to simply add healing to the minigun, I'm suggesting that they might add the healing but remove something else, such as 1. crits or 2. heavy cannot be 'overhealed' by the medic.

@ business: think about it like the new syringe gun (No crits, but heals 3 hp on hits).

I was thinking the unlockable primary weapon would be a modified minigun with no (or negligible) spin-up time. It'd accurately with slightly lower firing area for 2 seconds before becoming extremely inaccurate and would have the same cool-down period as the current minigun. That way a medic wouldn't help him too much because the heavy can't be a wall of sheer bullet godliness, but the heavy can handle himself if he turns the corner to find someone there.

The secondary weapon I couldn't really think of anything to do to it, because the shotgun is good, but maybe some sort of explosive shell that knocks enemies back but does little damage so the heavy can switch to his primary weapon and have time to use it.

The melee weapon? Hopefully it'd do more damage, because I'd think getting hit by a 350 pound Russian would hurt more than getting smacked with a club by some scrawny sniper. Boxing gloves would definitely fit the TF2 theme. Maybe with each hit doing 1/3 of the targets maximum health because if you're close enough to a heavy that he can punch you, you deserve to die.

So a few of my friends recently were hired (like a year ago) as programmers for Valve and told me the Heavy update will include a spy cloak. A fucking spy cloak. How great is that.
