I am all for personal freedom. Babies aren't humans until they're out of the woman. Until then, it's completely up to the mom. It's her body, so it's her choice. I am also for the legalization of drugs. If people want to do drugs, it's THEIR choice because it's THEIR body. They're not doing drugs to other people, no one else is affected by it physically. The government has NO right to step into our personal lives. That's not what the government is for, but that's sure as hell what it's being used for. Personal freedom does have an effect on my political stance, which is why I'd vote for the Libertarians. (I'm still only 17, however.) Normally, I'd vote for a republican over a democrat, because they're closer to libertarians. However, those two parties are so fucked up these days there's really no difference between them. I simply like Obama over McCain, but I'd vote for Ron Paul in a heart beat. But he nor Bob Barr, nor ANY party other than Repubs or Dems have a chance because those two team up to make sure they're the only two. And thanks, the media, for giving so much coverage to the great stance the Libertarians have, and not just giving democrats and republicans complete coverage. I don't know what kind of world we'd live in where most people have never even heard of any third parties. Two party system sucks. To sum it up, I'm pro-choice except for the death penalty (because if an innocent goes to jail he can be freed, but if an innocent is executed, well, oops) and religion. I think organized religion should be abolished. The world would be a better place w/out it. Pray in your home, don't bother other people about it. I love ranting, I should make a blog. :)

Unfortunately, not everybody is either capable or willing to make the right choice and/or follow through with the right choice. We can not even get people to agree on what is right. Abortions does not only affect the mother. Drugs do not only affect those that take them. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Abortions does not only affect the mother. Drugs do not only affect those that take them. No choice effects only the chooser though. The question is whether the effects of that choice on others are so significant that they trump the freedom of that choice. The consequences of choosing to terminate or carry out a pregnancy effects the woman nearly exclusively, and as it is her body it is thus her choice. The consequences of choosing to alter your brain chemistry for spiritual, recreational, or medical reasons are not much different, except that in an inebriated state your capacity for certain activities is diminished and thus it's reasonable to regulate those activities which are likely to put others at risk (e.g. drunk driving is illegal because you are much more likely to injure or kill others, but drunk walking is legal...). Kind of ironic that a father is forced to pay child support for a child he might not want, but if the mother doesn't want the child, she can just kill it.

If you support John McCain and/or George W. Bush, please click here.“I would like to say to Milton and Anna: Regarding the Great Depression. You're right, we did it. We're very sorry. But thanks to you, we won't do it again. - Ben Bernanke

I take other points into consideration first. No abortion does not affect my pseudo-vote in this election, because I don't think it's government related at all. No connection. You might as well have suggested whether or not the candidate's wardrobes make us think twice before voting for them. McCain dresses like an old man, Obama is hip and fresh!!

As a proponent of stem cell research I support the right to an abortion for more reasons than morality alone. Forcing someone to keep an unwanted child is downright criminal. Raising them to be dependents of the state is even worse. So someone decides to euthanize a non-sentient precursor of a human being who has known nothing and has nothing to lose? Big fucking deal. People with lives and knowledge and feelings are suffering and dying every day.

But if you're a moral relativist and there's no such thing as an absolute right to life, how can you say no one has any right to force a woman to carry her pregnancy to term?
((sorry, I'll post later, but I'm on by iPhone))
Merely a personal believe, and one seemingly shared by many given the number of laws dependent upon it. I recognize that other people believe otherwise and, indeed, other cultures differ significantly in that regard, so quite obviously it's not some absolute law. To be technical, the case that defends abortion doesn't defend abortion on any kind of moral ground, just says it's a privacy issue.

Such as say, signing off any responsibility for a child they may not have wanted? To me it sounds sexist. Men get forced to pay for kids they don't want while a woman has the option.

If you fuck someone you are in effect consenting to impregnate them. Unless you use birth control and it fails, or she lies about being on birth control. In that case, go see a judge. Or alternately, get a fucking vasectomy and never worry about that shit again. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.
