idk about you.. but it seems like a good move. Added a running mate that targets disenfranchised female voters. Check. Added a running mate that has a strong social conservative background. Check. Added a running mate that has low experience and less connections to Washington. Check. Looks pretty good to me.

Reminds me of every ruler-holding nun when I was in kindergarten in a private school. Makes the porn video that much juicier.

I am saying she brings to mind the teacher in Varsity Blues. She is pretty much my age by the way.

The more I think about it the more I'm coming to think the McCain campaign is already desperate to make up for the slams the DNC gave. The timing certainly supports that. I can picture his campaign having 10 white guys in mind if Obama did poorly and one woman in case things got so bad that they had to try to steal away the Hillary supporters. And that in itself should be offensive to anyone it would target. She is no Hillary Clinton. She has only a couple of years of being a governor under her belt and many thought she didn't have the experience to even get that. On top of that she has no national-level experience. The most she has going for her is her respectable but brief campaign against political corruption. It's nothing personal (though she has too many kids), I'm sure she's a great governor in Alaska. But this is a much larger ballgame. All that republicans should have to ask themselves is this: McCain isn't young. He could die while in office. Could she step in and be president? Simple fact is, she's being used as a tool. Worse, she's letting herself be used as one. Any woman that votes for McCain simply because there's a woman VP isn't helping women representation at all. All they'd be doing is validating the use of women as political ploys. I hope they're smart enough to realize that.

Actually, McCain is in a pretty good position. Tied going into the DNC, Obama will get a moderate bounce then it would have tightened up again. Forget all the rhetoric from both sides, McCain has never been a "team" player, he has pissed off more Republicans then Democrats over the years. When McCain ran against Bush in the 2000 primary, his supporters were referred to as "McCainiacs". And no matter what anyone tells you, McCain and Bush despise each other.
Now is it just me, or did someone just pop Obama's balloon in less than eight hours. Not a word today about his speech last night. I had to laugh this morning at Obama's campaign response, "she has no experience!!!!", ROFL. Kind of reminds me of the old saying "those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".
Bottom line for me, I like it. It shakes up the status quo and maybe a small town mayor, now Governor, outdoors type, hockey mom, mother of five with a union husband and not afraid to bitch slap an environmentalist or oil company executive with equal enthusiasm is just what we need.

I found it interesting that Sarah Palin said in her first speech as VP nominee that. "We are building a $40 million pipeline that will help us in our dependance of foreign oil." True, that may help the foreign side of things, but that doesnt account for the fact that America is addicted to oil, and who knows if theres even going to be a good supply of fuel coming from that pipeline in years to come. The fact is that America needs to get off this addiction.
Any Hillary Clinton supporter in their right mind will never vote for Mccain just becuase of Palin. Palin doesnt support abortion rights and doesnt have nearly the experience Clinton did.
I am a conservative, and its hard to even believe both sides. Obama with all these promises and Mccain championing the idea of reform. Meh.

Palin is scary. More of the same. Supports oil companies and drilling and other bad stuff.
The part that hurts McCain the most, is he cannot use the argument Obama isn't experienced enough to be President. Heck, none of them are since neither of them have been President. But Palin was only Governor for 2 years, so he cannot say Obama isn't experienced enough. Especially when it comes up to her stepping in if/when McCain dies in office.
If you support John McCain and/or George W. Bush, please click here.“I would like to say to Milton and Anna: Regarding the Great Depression. You're right, we did it. We're very sorry. But thanks to you, we won't do it again.” - Ben Bernanke

I just watched an CNBC special that was recorded before she even knew she was going to be picked(CNBC lucked out on this one). It's worth a watch if they air it again. The topic of discussion was energy production in Alaska. It's interesting just to see how she thinks. Rather than listening to talking points from Republicans of Democrats(which is all you're going to hear from here on out), it focused on her views on drilling, the oil companies, the environment and renewable energy.
Remember, this was taped a few weeks or months ago. The one thing that stuck out the most for me was when she said "My son will be deployed in Iraq on Sept 11 of this year, if we are over there fighting for oil when I'm sitting on top of billions of barrels of oil and cubic feet of natural gas, as a mom, something needs to change". If my ears heard right, she just said no war for oil.
