Giller wrote: Actually the general consensus is that the cop was out of line and should be reprimanded. Local news coverage posts citizen comments and responses to local news events, and this one has got a vast majority of responses that say it wasn't ok. Please dont judge the people of the state because of one asshole. How about we vote out the DA when it comes around...
Dammit, I was working on my response before him but editting on my iPhone make me slower and last to respond. :(

The one that really pissed me off was the one where the cop pulls over the ambulance. Does he not know that that is an emergency car and so is a fire truck but a cop with a lead foot it not. And he passed it know i don't know about the other states here in Oregon its against the law to pass an emergency car. Plus where the heel is he suppose to pull over to the ambulance has the right away not the cop. Know im not sure in Oregon if cop cars are on the list but they should not be. They are suppose to help escort the ambulance not pull it over and put someone life in danger. The guy in the back should have put the cop in a choke hold and dropped his ass. but the thing to remember here is that there are bad cops everywhere, And also there are good cops out there i have meet both. Anywhere you go you will meet good and bad people at any job. WDF?: I found a hot girl WDF?: Who lets me WDF?: Drink WDF?: Smoke WDF?: And play video games WDF?: ALL DAY shignog: and in the back door? WDF?: She's back door compatible WDF?: And it comes enabled by default WDF?: I need to teach sirus a lesson WDF?: Oh wait WDF?: That's called gay shignog: if there is a girl there its bi WDF?: lol WDF?: ok shignog: so its not so gay WDF?: Good enough

Anywhere you go you will meet good and bad people at any job. Thank you for this. Being the daughter of a cop I am well aware that there are douche bags on the force. However, they are not the norm. I'd say 9/10 police officers I know are very caring and only do what someone else forces them to do. Not to mention the fact that most news outlets villify the police. The whole story is never released to the public. An officer will shoot and kill a man who was charging him with a knife, and the public reaction is "Why did he have to kill him?! It was just a knife!" Well, guess what, general American public: an attacker with a knife only has to be within 20 feet to kill someone with a holstered gun. Meaning a police officer cannot let an attacker within 21 feet of themselves or they risk being stabbed to death. An attack like this happened on my dad's police force a few years ago. A young kid had been aggressive and violent towards his family. He was armed with a butcher knife. When his father called 911 he even asked the operator if he was allowed to use deadly force if his son tried to attack him or other members of his family. Police arrived on scene, tried to talk the kid out of his bedroom and to put the knife down. He comes out of his bedroom wielding this butcher knife and has a stand off with the officers. They tell him to drop the knife and he doesn't listen. They were just a hallways length from the kid, well within the 21 foot striking distance. The kid attacked the officers and got so close to killing one of the officers that the officer's gun belt, shirt and bullet proof visit had been slashed open by the kid's knife. He was young (17 or 18) and the officers gave him more than enough opportunities to put the knife down. He didn't listen, and he forced those officers to kill him. And what happens after this? Every news agency in the state says the officers killed this kid in cold blood. He only had a knife, they could have used none lethal force, etc. The kids family saw dollar signs and came out to the public sobbing and crying and saying their boy was an angel who never hurt anybody. The police just didn't try hard enough and they ended up killing their precious little boy. They sued the department AND WON because the department knew it would be cheaper to settle the issue than fight it, even though it's officers did everything correctly. Did the accounts of the slashed shirt, gun belt and vest ever end up on the news? No. Did the audio tapes of the confrontation that proved the officers did all that they could to get that kid to put the knife down before using lethal force ever get released? No. Only people who work in the field or have loved ones in the field seem to be privy to this information. No one ever posts the stories about the police officers who buy cookies for little kids on his lunch break, or the ones that save stray dogs on their beat and take them to no kill shelters, or the ones that carry stuffed animals in their patrol cars so they can give abused and frightened children something to comfort them, or the officer's like my dad who will give money to an elderly woman who was a victim of a scam so she can get home to her loved ones when all he had to do was write up a report on the crime. No. No one EVER talks about these stories. And then we get to hear pieces of shit like you, Cheney, talk about our loved ones like you have any fucking clue as to what we go through. I bet you've never been to an officer's funeral and seen the heartbreak on everyone's face. I bet you've never seen an officer who hated himself because a man or a woman FORCED him into a situation where he took that individuals life. Yes. There are bad cops and they do stupid, cocky shit that gives every officer a bad name. But there are also amazing officers who would put their life on the line for anyone who needed their help. It's a shame that the good men and women like that risk their lives for assholes like you, Cheney. Haven't really followed this but going off the last few posts' sentiment of police getting a bad rap from the news, and that encouraging a general distrust of the "pigs" and government in general. I agree. They don't get nearly the thanks they deserve. Now, mind you, I live in Arizona. I do NOT agree with a SB1070 and I hate Joe Arpaio. But the average police officer doesn't deserve to get shit for either of those. Those are politics and Arpaio is nothing more than a Republican politician at this point.
