The angry pig. What happened was he was driving past the journalist as she was taking pictures of a march for immigrant rights by a bunch of a students and grazed her elbow with his side mirror. Then he went over and flipped his shit on her and arrested her for inciting a riot and damaging a police car. She's just some random journalist for the Oakland Tribune. The cop is the chief of police for the school district police force. As far as I know the farthest its gone so for the guys boss to apologize for his out of line behavior but of course people want him not around their kids now so he may wind up getting fired or demoted. The DA of course declined to press charges and I think has also apologized to her and the newspaper where she works. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

The local DA said he is not going to press charges but he did send a pissy letter to his boss. So no, he wasn't fired. Something that totally adds to the strangeness, the cops wife was a passenger in his patrol vehicle at the time. Oklahoma is OK with psychocops pulling over ambulances and choking EMTs. Actually the general consensus is that the cop was out of line and should be reprimanded. Local news coverage posts citizen comments and responses to local news events, and this one has got a vast majority of responses that say it wasn't ok. Please dont judge the people of the state because of one asshole. How about we vote out the DA when it comes around...

"Oklahoma is OK!" (<--- :P ) But not with psychocops or crazy stuff like this! Giller and I are from OK, so obviously this is a hot topic on the local news. Let me start by saying we and probably most Oklahomans don't agree with what happened, the way the HiPo acted, or the lack of responsibility for what happened. That said I would like to point out that it was a non-emergency transport of a patient, so thankfully her life was not at risk. I am not trying to take away from the whole situation being totally crazy and WRONG. I guess I'm just trying to make a small attempt to not make our state look crazy. Which I know you are all smart enough to know that one idiot doesn't mean we're all idiots! :) They have a segment on the local news where they let anyone state their piece about a "hot topic" in the news (they select the topic and pose the question). People respond through email or telephone and of course the news channel airs the most outrageous (most of the time redneck) responses. Surprisingly all the opinions tonight were against the HiPo which says a lot (seriously, they have some backwood idiots that somehow have a working dial-up Internet connection respond)!
