Heh, yeah science, manufacturing, and trade tend to be careers for alts or something you do on the side. Only some people can overcome the sheer boredom want to make a living out of it.

Just reroll as a combat character. It's by far the funnest and way more newb friendly. Here's a totally condensed guide to creating a combat character

1. Make sure perception and willpower are high, but keep intelligence and memory at a reasonable level. Fuck charisma.
2. Pick a race according to your style:
Amarr: Fat armour tanks that blast people with lasers. Lasers are okay but compared to other weapon types on pure data alone, they're not so great. At least their ships are pretty.
Minmatar: Suicidal speed freaks. Worst hp and capacitor. However, the speed compensates for it. (faster targets are harder to hit). Most training intensive. Mixed tanking. They use projectile turrets which are pretty good, and versatile.
Gallente: Slightly less fat armour tanks. They use blasters which are the highest damaging turret, and drones which are super fun but can sometimes be hard to manage.
Caldari: Shield tankers who specialize in hybrid turrets (same as gallente) but most importantly, missiles. Missiles are really useful because they can be used at all types of ranges and always hit the target (unless it's too fast or they're using defender missiles). Caldari also have the most versatile bloodline (achura). Pick caldari if you want to kick ass right off the bat but also be extremely unoriginal.
3. Train and fit salvagers as soon as you can. They will boost your profit from missions by a lot.

Basically a ship that specializes in logistics; giving other ships capacitor and repairs on the battlefield. See:carebear

alright, i just ran through this whole thing and added everyone i could find a name for

if youre still on the trial and need some pointers or whatnot, jsut shoot me a line and i'll do what i can to help you out. While i may not have been playing continuously for the 2 years of my character's (Jishtara) life, I have been flying for several months now and seem to have a decent handle on how things work, where things are, good idea/bad idea, etc.

I'll do all I can to help make this game less scary to you guys on the trial (if youre still there....I hope)
