For the next 4 years, I don't want to hear a single complaint from anyone that voted for Obama.  If he fucks up, I want all of you to smile, nod, and say "This is what we wanted.  This is what we asked for."

Well, you picked him, but then again I forgot you don't believe in self responsibility.  Remember, he's -your- president now. :)  Feels good to be able to say that now.

So anyone that voted for Bush can't complain about the job he's done?  I'm with Dick, fuck that.  People decide their vote based on a lot of things, but absolute faith and certainty in what the candidate will do hasn't really shown itself to be one of them.

I believe Richard is simply saying if Obama is a terrible president, those who voted him in are to blame.

Lincoln was introduced to the vast audience by his former neighbor, E. D. Baker, at this time senator from Oregon. In one hand Lincoln had his silk hat, and as he looked about for a place to put it, his old antagonist, Douglas, took it. To a lady he whispered: “If I can’t be President, I can at least hold the President’s hat.”

Obama is OUR president now.  If you don't like his policies, in another 4 years there will be another election.  In the meantime, we have a lot of problems to address together in this country to repair the damage done by 8 years of Neoconservative ideas in action.

Wait wait wait... where were you when Bush was elected saying the same thing?  We gotta band together?  It's my turn to say "fuck that."  I don't believe Obama is looking out for America's best interests and frankly I will cast doubt until he proves otherwise.

After putting up with 8 years of pissing and moaning from the left over Bush waving the "not my president" flags.  Not standing up for the president when he's introduced to Congress, they get to eat crow if Obama fucks up.

Obama is no Lincoln.

He's also not our president yet. I think we should all consider one other thing, there are many issues that need to be dealt with in our government. Things that take lots of time. I think it's reasonable to assume we won't see fundamental changes in policy until close to the second half of his term. Even then, 4 years is not a lot of time to reinvent government.

With a super majority for Democrats, it may be a lot easier than you think.

Yeah. I'm with you tho on being skeptical until we see the results. I would feel the same way about McCain. I'm personally not a real fan of either.

This summer I saw a lot of signs that were looking to hire people for Obama campaign jobs, and the compensation they advertised was pretty damn handsome. I wonder of the Ron Paul campaign would hire any inexperienced jagoff off the street?

Stephen A Douglas was Lincoln's opponent in the presidential race.  The point is that after the election in 1860,  he acceded to the will of the democracy and worked with Lincoln to try to maintain the Union.  The election was hard fought and Douglas disagreed with Lincoln about a lot of policy,  but he believed first of all in democracy.  When he lost the election, he continued to serve his country instead of whining like a little bitch for 4 years.
