It's not that simple, it'd be a refresher course for us, but it's completely new to them.  So they get some basic information, this stuff was taught to use from elementary on through high school, you want them to learn all of it by reading a pamphlet?  Come on man let's get real, mathematics, science, and some english grammer is much more universal than our Declaration of Independance, and as such more suited to judge whether or not someone would be a good contribution to this country.

Edit: And not only that, most people who WERE taught this throughout their education cant do better than a D.  As evidenced by our community.

So you want them to take the same test you took in school? They give these tests in whatever language you speak. So that cuts out the "some english grammer" theory. Next science and math ARE universal. What does that have to do with the USA? Nothing.

"Oh, you know general science and math! Welcome to the United States!"

I'm sorry, but they have it easy.

75%. I haven't seen this material in 20 years and no pre-study. With about 20 minutes of study I probably could have scored 90+.

Learning the history of a country one wants to become a citizen of is never a bad idea.   If I wanted to become a citizen of Mexico, the first thing I would do is learn the language then take a history course.  BTW, if Mexico required that I hold one leg in the air and dance the Macarena to become a citizen, it's their country and their rules.

Twitchy is a liar.  And I have a much better test for immigrants that want to enter our country.  It's your standard gladitorial fight to the death.  Just have all of them fight it out and the lone survivor gets to become a citizen.  You could charge an outrageous amount for tickets and you could put it on pay-per-view.

Not to mention if you want to make the test fair you have to be able to appeal to what they've learned.  If they can't add 4+4 but can recite you the First Ammendment by heart what fucking good does that do?  And fine, change it to whatever grammar applies to their language.  My point is we shouldn't expect them to be patriotic, but we should at least hold some kind of useful standard.  And let's not forget the USA is NEAR THE BOTTOM IN EDUCATION across the globe.  So yes, have them take the test I took in high school, and chances are they'll score better.  You tell me which would you rather have, someone who can understand complicated calculus and bio chemistry, who might potentially do something worthwhile, or have someone who can count to 13 and tell you about the freedom of speech.  *rolls eyes* So let's be real here and actually test them for something that could be worthwhile.

And I'm sorry but you have it much much much easier.

WARNING!
Times mentioned in the above post are stated in WHUT time... which is not the time normal humans are accustomed. Whut time is relative. Today is defined as whenever Whut happens to get a bug up his ass and thinks he is gotten sorta of close to being in the mood. The actual real life timeframe for these occurences is unknown at this time. Sometimes it happens more than once in a day and during other periods it would be more like for hell to freeze over than anything actuallly getting done. Currently we are in a time frame where it would seem that there would be more of a chance of Dragon getting a girlfriend as far fetched as that might be than there would be of anything actually happening here.

First off, I never said I didn't have it easier. Second, you are telling me you want someone to take the SAT to become a citizen. Great. What about the people with a low, or even complete lack of education? I was saying this test is easy for everybody with a little studying. It isn't like they come over and say, "hmm, I think I will take the test today." They have a time frame before they can take it. So in this period of time, "the wait", if they can't learn a few dates, a little history about where they are going to live, and some basic knowledge of the United States then why even try?

On top of that... What about the older generations? They would like to become citizens. (hypothetical situation here). They have all the requirements they need to become a citizen aside from the test.

Test 1(Test that is now in place): Ok, all I have to do is study a little, take a test, and complete my citizenship.

Test 2(New test): I have to learn geometry and basic english grammar before I can become a citizen.

Its time for the *rolls eyes* and lets get real part. SAT over a 20 question multiple choice exam. If a person can't pass that, what makes you think they can pass yours?

And I don't think attacking the US for having stupid people in it is helping your arguement.

100% Bitches.

However, I used process of elimination on the original colonies question and the form for becoming a citizen question I chose the one which I thought sounded like the name the government would most likely call it.

You should be more like Cantrip.

45%...hmmm, at least I learned some new stuff about early US Politics, so it wasn't a total waste.

Well, better hitch a ride with the Mexicans than.
