The sentry gun rumor for the Scout only suggested that the ball was meant to "distract the sentry", not destroy it. My take on it: Hit the ball, ball passes over or by a sentry(s), sentry(s) shoot the hell out of the ball til the ball hits the ground, Sentry(s) keep going with their generic duties. No busting from direct contact with the ball, no "Scout stunnin' my sentry!" crap, no fuss...just annoyance. Regardless of the rumor, it does seem like the Scout is becoming much more defensive, but this doesn't fill in the hole regarding the Scout's focus with these new weapons. I have a hunch we'll see that one weird weapon the Scout had in the earlier trailers of TF2.

Edit:
And now the maps are out...

Really? Honestly, I think the Scout almost entirely needs some kind of perk like an Uberbuster...or a sentry/sniper foil. The Spy already has clocking/deceptive abilities, so an Uberbuster almost makes the spy seem TOO useful, imo. The Scout gets almost no playtime in a defensive situation; ordinarily the time where Ubers are unleashed making Scouts moving meatbags with "lol" worthy ragdoll deaths.

Scouts are fine. Spies need it more because its too easy to find the spy.

The scouts gets ALOT of play time, ever been rolled by a team of 3 scouts 2 medic and a demo or a team of scouts? Good dodging skills, good aim, good speed, high damage from the scatter gun = winning combo. Also, the scout is under OFFENSIVE classes for a reason, they flank and pick out medics or lonely players that isnt a heavy or pyro.

The spy cloak is impossible to use since... a lot of the times, its usually a cluster of people AND a MASSIVE amount of W + Mouse 1 spamming pyros. Spy disguises... too easy... the spy is usually the guy thats walking the wrong way, holding the primary weapon, has 1/2 amount of health, and they'll block you. Don't you find it odd that a sniper is not zooming, or demoman with PIPE bombs and not sticky bombs, or a medic with a syringe gun and not healing, or a pyro not using the BB cause they like to W + Mouse 1 spam?

Oh and...

The new bat... meh...

How long does it stun? Can you go mobile and stun someone? Whats the firing speed? Travel speed? If you can answer these question then i'll give my input

To my understanding, the only significant change to the Scout when equipped with the new bat is a lack of a double jump -- nothing more. Everything else brought to the table is pure speculation right now, so I can't validate a thing until the update comes out, sadly. Charge time, melee damage, rate of fire, ball limitations, stun time; can't be sure yet. Your right though, there is a lot of W+M1 spamming with everyone -- my unconditional hate towards pyros with this for the moment -- so the spy DOES need something to make him more useful in the future, which is obvious. =P

I sometimes wonder if my beloved spy will ever get his update... I'm thinking something like a time bomb or and EMP to kill people or sentries in a certain area?  Muhahahahaha! :P

Also Valve and Steam can blow me for the nerfed demoman, the stickies now seem to do more damage to the demo than to anyone else.  It's not that of a easy class to play and anyone who thinks otherwise, I dare you to play demo and fighter scouts, pyros, snipers etc.  The only area where demos excel is in doorways and against sentries in certain areas...  The fact that they don't have a gun makes it much mroe challenging than soldier or heavy.

Are you saying before or after this nerf? Last time I played (probably > 2 months) demo had been hella fuckin easy.

it's all on how you play.  Demo is obviously potentially as twitch skill easy as the engie if you play them that way....just put stickies on ground and wait for ppl to pass.  Press button.  win.

I agree that its hard to play demo well if people are attacking your weakness...that is, getting in close to you (or being very distant to you).  thats what separates a good demo from a bad one.  Ducktor is good because he knows how to compensate and play well even when he is fighting in non-optimal conditions for his class.  Every class has challenging aspects to the game....I wouldnt say that there is one class that is just easymode in all situations.  There are times as a soldier that I think the demo is less challenging because they dont have to manage thier ammunition use as much as me....they dont have to worry about surviving an encounter because their aim was off for one or two shots...or that if they do miss, well the ammo really wasnt wasted because its still sitting there active and they just have to be patient enough for the player to wander close to it again.
I guess I'm just saying that I dont think any class is easy, or more/less challenging than the others.  The difference is that a good player knows the strengths and weaknesses of his class...and plays to the strengths.  And he/she is observant and knows whats going on around him...thats all it takes to be good.

I was just messing around on the Valve's multinational website, and I'm sorry, but I just can't stop laughing at this:

Who the hell is Kerl??

It's possible he's just saying something different, as the Kerl is capitalized.

For example, I'm fairly certain that the french scout calls himself "a piece of art." when he's examining his bicep. As opposed to "Oh, that's beautiful" in english.

Secondly, FUCK YEAH JUNCTION.

Thirdly, as a rather successful spy - if the cloak leaves, there had better be something holy shit awesome to replace it. Disguises help for closing in for the kill. The cloak is what gets you in position. Pyros can be avoided by simply standing where they won't flame. Don't underestimate the length of your cloak. If you have to hold still and wait for someone to pass, then you'll be in the right spot to catch them once you de-cloak.

Hmm since I play scout so much I may actually try to unlock this stuff legit. Of course the downside is there will be thousands of scrub scouts to contend with ;  ;

Not as many as before I'm guessing, since anyone that exploited the weapon glitch has their unlockables banned for 30 days.

{pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name
Jessica343: so I can get heals
{pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea
{pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl)
