So, the sniper loses a weapon, goes slower, and the only perk he gets is he can now survive 1 backstab... Doesn't seem worth it.

I would use this in a Sniper Rifle/Sheild/knife configuration. The piece of mind from not having to worry about spys while scoped is something desirable to me. Which *is* worth it. You lose your shield and you're all "zomg it's a spy" so you turn around and gut him before the spy can attack again. Safety + Peace

So with this equipped, its just there? I mean, you lose a weapon, but its always there? Understand what I'm getting at? Not too crazy bout this one.

Not too crazy bout this one. I think it just sits there on your back, like some armor you would wear. Which is in keeping with the body slotting items that they have long term plans for. Head slot, back slot, etc. And I think saber is wrong..i think this will replace the machine gun.
