Right, but the current cloak drains ALL the time, whether standing still or moving. Other than the risky prospect of using ammo packs to recharge (still no word whether that'll work on the Cloak & Dagger), the only difference I see is that it actually RECHARGES while still. So.... why would you ever use the one that drains all the time? Here's an example... Dustbowl, your team is on a roll, you want to ninja cap it. You would want to use the old cloak because you can pick up metal to add more cloaking time so you can keep running. It takes you... 15 seconds top to get to that next point. But if you used the new watch, you'll have to stop and wait for it to recharge taking you an extra 20-30 addition seconds, in those 20-30 seconds, they've already lost their first point and slowly building up a defense on that last point. Ninja cap is impossible now. The 2 cloak watches is timing and objective issues. TF2 has time concerns when playing curtain classes like engineer. Set up time is low, you need to get a lvl 2 going + a dispenser lvl 1 to at least hold out the beginning wave attack. TitaniumPhoenix wrote:WAIT WAIT WAIT...

So.... why would you ever use the one that drains all the time? Because spys like to get behind people cloaked , stab them in the back, and then re-cloak using the kill's dropped weapon to recharge thier invisible escape. The new cloak will not allow this trick to be as successful because they will be out of cloaking charge (or almost) by the time they infiltrate, pick a target, and execute the target. Basically the old cloak will be good for assassin spys, and the new cloak will be better for infiltrator, intel cappers, and sentry sappers (because they can wait under cloak for the engineer to run off and leave it exposed) That help? Saber (Wu) wrote: Negative, the last update added the cloaking watch as a weapon to the spy as well. The new cloaking watch will replace the old one obviously and the dead ringer will replace the revolver because it stated that you'll cloak for 8 seconds which will give you enough time to get behind someone to deal the killing blow aka back stab.
I got the sense that the two watches were to supplant the original watch, leaving the revolver and sapper untouched. I mean, is he really gonna carry two watches around? Safety + Peace

What happens (with the Cloak and Dagger) when you are hit by flames?

That's what seems to be more confusing w/ regards to fiyah. Though I think the fire will negate the effect of it, as the flame is continuous. Safety + Peace

I'm kind of under the impression that the Dead Ringer will still work as normal even when your hit with flames. EX: A Pyro comes after you, lights you up, and you leave a corpse behind that's meant to be a fabricated version of yourself. (This is the part that makes no sense) If the Pyro continues using his flamethrower while your invisible, the Dead Ringer is null-in-void (possibility?). But this is where I'm sort of confused: because of the fanatic nature of the game, it's not unusual to have a swarm of rockets and grenades take you down, even when your cloaked normally. Is there a possibility that the Dead Ringer has some type of damage immunity like Bonk? Because if you think about it, if it's like your normal cloak, wouldn't it be possible to die while your invisible (again) in the middle of a spy checking frenzy? I strongly believe at this point that Dead Ringer has a cool down meter (like the sandman) which makes it useful for one good go around, disables your normal cloaking watches and your other weapons, making it an escapist option. EDIT: I confused the names while I was writing. XD DredNaught wrote:In regard to the ladies... or lack thereof: Just remember that it's about quality, not quantity. I actually keep thinking that the Dead Ringer was one of those freeze time watches. When the spy gets hit, he'll slow down time (or make himself go faster) then drop a body and quickly escape from danger. This would make countering people who knows about the dead ringer and continues shooting for the spy who's alive more easier and makes the dead ringer more of a useful tool for the spy.
Here's a good reason why both these ARE NOT the same unlock replacement. Why would you use the dead ringer when you NEED to be hit first to cloak? Combat spy? You still need the optional cloaking effect. Unless the dead ringer can still give you the option to cloak on your own. I've heard rumors that the dead ringer is the replacement for the cloak and dagger watch. Cloak and dagger will replace the old and current watch and become the original base watch.

If you notice in the picture and in the description, the dead wringer is not a typical wrist watch. It does not actually go on your wrist, and the spy is even shown holding the watch as a weapon (hint: replaces something that is held). In other words, the dead wringer will replace the revolver since that is both held. I don't think they would replace the disguise since that is kind of essential to playing spy. The cloak and dagger will replace the standard cloak watch as the spy's wrist watch. Details my dear friend Watson, details. The cloak and dagger will replace the standard cloak watch as the spy's wrist watch. Details my dear friend Watson, details. I think you overestimate the meaning of a promo shot. The knife is never actually left in an enemy after they're killed. Does this mean he's getting throwing knives? No. The unlockable weapons are being expanded beyond "one replacement weapon per slot" There are two watch-slot unlockables, with others to be revealed. Note that the "backpack" screen includes more 27 slots ( logic being 9*3, 3 unlocks per character ) Valve won't stop building unlockables once there are 3 per character. Over time, this will become a full-blown "items" system, hopefully trying to maintain balance. And disguise is far from central to Spy. I can quote Valve directly on the observed and proven ineffectiveness of the disguise. Safety + Peace

I completely agree. At best -- at least for me -- I can only run two mask properly without too much suspicion: Engie, and Medic. Sniper is useless unless your at a battlement, Demoman reduces running speed (same as Heavy and Soldier), and Scouts run as slow as pro-BONK Scouts making them easy to read. The other three classes merely let me "blend in" when there's an orgy of Engies in a corner or when I need to run in close quarters areas with a class that makes sense for it (pryo)...unless there are pyro checking lunatics -- effectively switching my tactics to the friendly Medic (the combat medic variety, bitches! >=D). Otherwise, I work within the shadows and use cloak. =P DredNaught wrote:In regard to the ladies... or lack thereof: Just remember that it's about quality, not quantity.
