I can definitely understand the anger over a few dick costumers. I work at McD's (Sad yes but true) and there have been more than a few time where I have wanted to punch out the customer. Why do they all assume that because you work at McD's you lack all cognitive function? And why are some of them so dumb? O the things I could do if only i would not get fired....Anyone seen the Special Sauce ? (and I am not talking mac sauce here) BTW you know that "We reserve the right to refuse service for any reason" sign posted on lots of buissnesses? I so want to pull that one. "Sorry but we can not serve you because you are a dumb piece of COCK SUCKING ..........!!!!

Two summers ago, I was working at a "beach" (big kitty litter box and wasp-nest-minefield) on a "lake" (reservoir). Three times during the summer, the parks department throws a "Beach Bash" which is free to get in, has contests and a DJ, and is generally a good time. Because its so awesome, we can only have 300 people in our little lifeguard area at a time. This leads to massive headaches. A lady who had already been a complete asshat at a previous Beach Bash showed up for the last one. She got out of line, forgot to reserve her spot (we had a list for people to reserve their spot without actually standing in line) and threw a hissyfit about the whole thing. Our boss was an ex-Navy guy, so he was hardcore but fun. He basically saved us from dealing with the crazy lady. The worst part is that she tried to freaking SUE us. For what?? Not letting her into a free event? We're required by law to only have 50 people per lifeguard. Seriously, its not funny but it makes me want to knock some sense into people like that. >_> If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

You guys have all watched Fight Club too much. If you don't like your shitty job, don't take it out on the people who come in for your help -- get another job of go back to school and get trained to do something you like. Life is too short to waste it on passive-aggressive acting out. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"

If you are belligerent, obnoxious, or just simply a jerk, bad things will happen to you in life. This is a lesson for everyone. If anyone wants to take a swing at this by pointing out that I am not always the nicest person, I will admit to that and if anyone wants to apply this philosophy to me, I will take it like a man. < That is something called personal responsibility. Something everybody (including me) needs to learn and practice. Muffalopadus wrote:Also, this is totally...well, its totally something. This is awesome and a perfect example of what I just said. You get through life by your actions, the steering mechanism on the road of life, so your actions directly affect what is going to happen.

And about taking shit out on dickhead customers. Sure you can be a goody two shoes and hope dickheads get what they deserve. But most of us in the real world take solace in taking karma into our own hands because we know karma is bullshit.[quote] While I was going to school I always had a job. Some of those included "crap" jobs like dishwasher, cook, stocker, janitor, delivery truck driver, busboy, pharmacy tech, etc, etc. All these jobs required me to deal with sometimes difficult people. I found that by doing the best I could to deliver my service to them and by treating them with respect that 99% of the time, they went away happy. There was always some people that were just determined to be angry and I would let my boss deal with them. Now fast forward to my current job. I'm a highly trained professional and I own my own business. Guess what? There are still difficult people I have to deal with every day. By listening to them and doing my best to give them what they need and treating them with respect 99% of them go out of my office satisfied. The 1% that are determined to be angry I still treat with respect because that's part of my job. There are rarely (1-2 people/year out of over 5000 encounters/year) people that I decide would be best cared for by someone else. Those people are also treated with respect as I help them find someone who can better serve them. The bottom line is that unless you have a job counting snowflakes at the North Pole, you'll have to deal with difficult people. I've found that treating them the way I'd like to be treated regardless of their behavior is the easiest way to go for me. I expend way less emotional energy and time with them that way. It also is the only way to run a successful business. A satisfied customer tells around 5-10 people about their good experience; a dissatisfied customer tells twice that number about their bad experience. I don't need to take Karma into my own hands because the few real "dickheads" that I encounter are already suffering enough by having to live their lives in the hell of their own anger. Retaliating against them just puts me into that same hell -- and life's too short to waste like that. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"
