Yeah, I'm not sure I'll be able to make all the Wednesday practices, either. That tends to be the day the grandparents take the kid, which means date night. But not every Wednesday. I'll be there for most.

If another day of the week works better for more people we can do that instead, it's just that I hadn't gotten any real feedback from anyone on practice dates besides Sundays, which seem to work for most everyone to some extent. You can definitely still play Crappy, just get some practice in on your own time and try to play with those on the team if you see them online. It's not as though we're that hardcore anyway. I know we're all very busy and for most of us playing games is not a scheduled activity in the least. We can move the Sunday practices back if we need as well, I just didn't want to cut into the sleep schedules of the guys that live further East than I do. Try to play on the maps that we'll be competing on if at all possible if you plan on doing any solo practice though and watching clips of the pros playing can be useful for certain scenarios. At this moment, weekday practices can't really be later than 8pm pacific. Weekend practices can be as late as you want though. I might be taking a stonecarving class in a few weeks so one day during the week will be busy. Thanks for those links, they were quite useful. New record at scout! 15 kills in one life against pubs! Yay! That probably translates to 1 kill against a regular player though. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

I realized today that I won't be able to make the Wednesday practice myself due to prior commitments. I'll leave it scheduled though in case you all want to practice anyways. Weekday practices are hard to schedule... Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win

I moved this thread to the private forums because I'm gonna be super sneaky! We all need to make our profiles private so we can't be scouted ahead of time. TEEHEEHEE! This is fun. I'm scouting out the team we're going up against. I'll post notes here later, but it seems like they're about as good as us so far. It will at least give you an idea of what we'll be going up against. It seems like probably going to be worse than us, so I'm feeling confident. We need to make sure we have good communication! I think that will be our weakest link, tbh. I'm looking forward to practice this evening. I'm trying to get Shadows team to scrim with us, even if we have incomplete teams. Quite the detective work Muff...just so you know I can get a link to their roster (including STEAM_IDs) when a match is scheduled...might be a bit easier next time. And see Drakhen, I told you we'd be fine! I'll post the server location and other important things here once I learn it from the other team's leader(s) (they have 3 on their roster). Just note that the caching mechanism used to populate the "LATEST FORUM POSTS" thing at the top is stupid about digging into private forums, so it's possible updates will be posted in here that people like myself might not notice. I pretty much use that display exclusively to monitor any new postings in the forums.

Not sure we really need a secret forum, as any opponents can view OUR roster just as easily as I can view theirs. Derp. I forgot about that. Oh well, I was just being stupid about it anyway. -- On a different note, the cancelled practice ended up being pretty good. Virus, Frostbite, Drak, and me were able to play for a while with Shadow and Nimiq against some random other clan. We kicked their butts! We won like 4 times in a row. Definitely made me realize that communcation is really important. Calling out enemies that are injured or trying to flank is credit to team. It was a lot of fun, even if not everyone showed up...even though it was apparently canceled anyway. =O -- Also, our server was running very poorly with 6 people on it. Our pings were fine but we were still pretty choppy. I would strongly suggest either setting up another server (whuts old one?) or bumming one off of some friends of ours. We're the away team but we'll have to host eventually. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Well, I can view their roster but I can't see their TF2 stats on steam. I bet if I was smart about it I could get the data from somewhere else, but if they're private we can't tell what their team comp is - who their weak players are and stuff. Ah well, its fun to play spy vs. spy in this prematch waiting period. Its sort of psyching me up. =) edit: bump for lazy people If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Hmm, shouldn't have been anything particular going on to make it that slow. I was doing some intense virus scans, but that was well before the practice. Anyway, we won't be able to host on our current server for sure. It's probably not configured right for the tournament and it definitely can't handle the 9 vs. 9 load. I think Super mentioned that there are league servers available, too.

Meh. Tried rebooting the server last night and it didn't come back up. Lovely. Last night was a very unawesome night.

If we could borrow Whut's server for home matches that would probably be best...I'll try contacting him about that... There ARE UGC servers, but there's only 2 of them apparently...which means first come first serve. That could get sketchy. And I'm glad you guys did that mini-scrim, way to prepare! And I'm glad you guys did that mini-scrim, way to prepare! Man, that's crazy. I don't understand how any league could expect almost all of the contenders to provide their own server... especially if they don't have it as an up-front requirement. =/
