Hope the little crustacean is better.

I will not be able to make Wed practice this week -- going skiing. Hopefully back in time Sunday night.

I'm gonna be cheesy as hell here...FOCUS ON THE "WE", NOT THE "ME"! See what I did there? Yeah, pretty disgusting.

Thank you for the words of wisdom Muff, I agree wholeheartedly.

Unfortunately, on that note I too will not be able to make practice tomorrow evening. It is my birthday and I'm already behind on work as we speak...

I'll miss Wednesday's practice (my birthday) but should be able to make Friday and Sunday.

I've done the following to our server:
- Committed it to koth_lakeside_final; next week's map
- Disabled random crits
- Disabled team scrambling (I think)
- Set the bots to always offer at least a 5 vs 5 match (set to medium difficulty - no more taunting)
- AllTalk is now always on, regardless of player count

Short of finding an obscure mod, there's no way to force the bots to choose classes highlander-style, so don't expect much there. But I still find it a very good way to become familiar with the map and for general practice.

We'll really need good team work next week. It'll be more embarrassing than any past loss if we can't hold the point at all, and it'll be very easy for a dominating team to secure the point indefinitely if given the chance.

The general lack of a moving front will also make this a lot different than the past two maps. I suspect normal sentries will be better than mini's, dispensers will be invaluable for maintaining control, spies might be less effective, and snipers will probably be more effective. (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on those beliefs)

At the very least, learn the map. Know where cover is, where ammo and health is, and find the good angles of attack. Even a bot server will allow for that.

P.S. Also note that there's no native bot support on this map, so I had to generate it. So the bots aren't perfect on it. I once saw an engineer hopelessly try jumping someplace it can't go to place a building, and blue/red place things in different places. Not a huge deal, though.

Let's plan on having practice on Sunday at 5:00 pm pst again. We really just need to go over strategy for the map and playstyle. Practices have so far been more goofing around than practice and we've been playing this game for years now, so in reality, practice without an entire team isn't going to help us get any better. Show up on Sunday though if you can please.

Our next match is set for Monday on koth_lakeside_final. It should be interesting playing KOTH instead of CP...

The map will allow for some interesting strategies, as well. If you don't know it, learn it.

I'll be home probably around 7pm pacific time and will probably jump on right away. If anyone's still on, or wants to also come on at that time-ish, hit me up and we'll play. I think best strategy for us is to bot stomp on the map, let us learn against a team while coordinating and learning flank spots

Okay, so I've contacted the other team and they want to play on Tuesday at 9:30 EST. Does this work for everyone? What I really need to know is does this NOT work for anyone. They claim that NONE of their team can play on Monday...so...yeah, let me know.

As much as I want to say I can't and help force them to forfeit out of spite, technically I should be able to.

Realistically, though... waiting a few minutes for late players is one thing. Postponing for an entire day is another. And if none of their players can make Monday, me thinks they shouldn't have joined the tournament. If we indeed face other teams of similar ranking and they've lost 2 times, part of me has to wonder if they were forfeits due to people not showing up at the scheduled time.

I'm going to say that if we can't field 9 people on Tuesday, then we shouldn't accept the reschedule. I mean, seriously...why would we handicap ourselves more?

I can tell them that we could try and do seven vs. seven on Tuesday. I DEFINITELY agree that we cannot let them get an advantage from changing the date, that would really suck.

Grrr.
Wife's in a bad mood already and she wants to go to a store. So I'll be late for practice.
