"Two pilotless aircraft fired at least four missiles at around 9:30 am killing up to 20 people, most of them women and children," said Sanaullah Khan, a local resident in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan."

How could a resident there know that?

For  a second, I thought that this was posted in the food network section.

So imagine my surprise to open the tab and read about bombs and thinking "holy shit where's the recipe?

Pakistan is FUBAR no matter how you slice it. Always has been, and it's only gotten worse over the past few years.

Tactical assaults is not the equivalent of a serious bombing campaign in Pakistan.

It does not justify going into another country, bombing them, and killing women and children. Just saying, because it almost sounds like you justify the action? Maybe not.

We've been doing this since June. How many months of tactical assaults until you would consider it a bombing campaign?

Well, it says "resident"... not "civilian". He could live there and operate military equipment.
I also don't think drones move that fast, do they? He or someone he spoke to could have seen them come in and shoot. At the very least I'm sure they look a lot different than normal fighters.

Perhaps he saw them? They're pretty easy to recognize.

Depends on the drone and the missile.  Some of those drones can cook it across the sky at a good clip.

I could see a guy looking up and seeing a plane too small for a man shoot 4 somethings and call them missiles.

According to the story, it's because 'they' (Pakistan) have too many militants on their side of the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. So, being the world police that we are, decided we would help Pakistan by bringing democracy to their country, and then bombing a school and killing a bunch of wimmin and children.

Of course, Pakistan says they do not need our help to clean up the militants, and if we ever do anything like this again, they will retaliate.

We did not deny this, and in fact probably told them after the fact that we sent in unmanned drone bots to do the deed. You see, this way 'we' can say it was a computer error or something, and can sleep better at night, because it wasn't 'us' that did the bombing. No. It was a robot! The robot should go to hell. Not us. No. Because we're right! We're Americans!
