what a powderkeg of excitement!

I cared about my score for about 2 days, then i gave up on it because some people had just insane amounts of points...something with my schedule i can't compete with.

The game is a lot more fun when you don't worry about the points and just have fun, as whats intended.

And for those who donate? Don't use a templated response used throughout teh intartubes. I'm thinking about donating, but I want to make sure it's a good investment. You do understand what an investment is, right? I'd pay money to people who listens to the concerns of its player base, even if they aren't contributing to the coffers... yet. WDF seems to be doing a descent job treating everyone as if they are potential contributors, and that's good business practice.

Still, what do points mean? I put some sort of statistics in a magical black box and out comes a number. "...But what does it mean?"

Show me where I or anyone engaged in this discussion have bragged about their points or rank. If anything, the biggest mistake I ever made in wanting to improve the system was to demonstrate the problem of the medic kill assist by using its imbalance to raise my own score. It's opened me up to all sorts of attacks about being self-serving and "complaining" when I have no right to because I am ranked so highly.

Yes, this is a game, and certainly the points don't "matter." Neither does killing someone on the other team or capturing intel or a point, but we all still do it... because it's fun. I know some people with small brains may not think people can enjoy the competition of the point system and call that "fun" as well, but who the hell are you to tell those people their idea of fun is wrong? If players aren't meant to enjoy the HLSTATSX point system as much a diversion as the game itself, why even have it on the servers? Take it off and let those "stpid" "immature jackasses" that don't have a life go somewhere else. But if you keep it, you have no standing to insult those players, who are as completely legitimate on the servers as you, and tell them they should go elsewhere because they want to discuss one aspect of the game they are playing. It's the same as the other discussions about respawn times, conduct rules, and which custom maps should be included: it's the game they play and as long as those in charge care about the community's opinion of how things are run (which WDF? seems to do admirably), we have just as much right to discuss options and offer input.

Those who donate donate because they feel this is a worthy cause. I try and manage the best possible servers around. My team is fair. The servers, while usually paid for by me, are community driven. Everyones opinion is taken into consideration.

I welcome your contribution if you see fit to do so, but I will not be held hostage by someone who feels entitled to things based on the fact that they chose to support an establishment through donation. I ask you to not question my integrity unless you have all the facts required to do so. I have dedicated eight years of my life maintaining this community. I think I'm doing a pretty good job.
