I'll modify the server.dll if no one is willing to.

Is it okay for just limiting cbs to 1 (and 32 player hack)?

This would be awesome in my opinion. It has been slow going to determine which location to change in the file for those of us who dont do much of this kind of stuff though. The gaming public is goning to lynch us if we dont get it figured out soon. It has been quite an adventure in hex edit thus far because we dont have access to the source that I know of.

Its going to take Whut to approve you modding the dll though because I dont belive I have access to the server executables anyway. I have never needed them until this point. I really cant imagine that he will have any problem with this but lets wait and see what he says.

If you can give me an idea of the correct location anyway I would appreciate it. I like to figure out these things out on my own and at least I will be able to trace backwards from it.

Actually GU server is using my modding DLL. Not sure if cb limiting is working as well though.

If you install SDK and create new MOD based on HL2DM, you'll get full code of HL2DM. With this and the disassemble code (biew.exe I'm using) you can easily chase down what you are looking for.

Just search the bytes I posted above (this time '68 46 FE 26 44 6A 3C' would be better I think) and locate where it actually needs to modify.

[server.dll for Version 19]

32 players max:

00409018: C7 02 10 00 00 00    ;  mov [edx],00000010

to

00409018: C7 02 20 00 00 00    ;  mov [edx],00000020

Combine ball limit:

0040A2C7: 6A 03    ; push (d)  +03

to

0040A2C7: 6A 01    ; push (d)  +01

Kusa..

You are awesome. You must never leave us again. This is perfect.

Have another quick question for you. You fixed the detpak in your maps to not crash servers anymore. I am assuming other maps that happened to used the detpaks that were not made by you will probably continue to crash servers?

Yes.

It's hard to fix the maps just by the binary editor if the mapper is no more around and no source file is available.

Kusa, is there something we can do to repay your generosity with the help you've provided?

On a side note, a while back we had enabled ff slams to discourage teammates from detting defenses. You certainly don't have to look into that, but I was wondering what values needed to be changed for that to work again.

Again, thanks.

I believe I fixed the orb issue and I am emailing WDF the server.dll file.

I suspected that the 6A03 modifier on the code was the source of where the fix needs to be made, but I wasn't sure.  Thanks Kusa, I really appreciate your guidance on this stuff.

Illenta..

Your school map is one of the ones I have been wary of for this reason.

if you want to put that map into the mapcycle, i can certaintly look into fixing it.  i'm not sure what kusa did to fix his detpack, but i can start some trial and error and see if i can get it working so that you can put this map back into the mapcycle.  i don't have any mapping projects going on right now so i will have some time to start tinkering.

if you want, i can also port Pond into hl2dm format if you think people might want to play it.  i  built that map for the smaller crowds in the ctf mod so i'm afraid it might be a bit small for the crypt.  but on the other hand pedistal is on the crypt mapcycle and that is like 3 times smaller then pond, so if you think it might work i can give it a shot, your choice.

llenta..

You fix these maps and we will find a place for them.

BTW Pedestal has been removed from the cycle for awhile now because of lag issues with a full server. Everytime you see it run now it has been voted in or admin loaded. People just love that map..
