Okay, perhaps it's time to SHUT THE FUCK UP.
A Thesaurus: A thesaurus is simply a book of reference intended to serve as a GUIDE to help find words RELATED IN DEFINITION to other words, and sometimes also ANTONYMS, or WORDS OPPOSITE IN MEANING. A thesaurus is NOT a work that spits out words with the SAME DEFINITION, and IN ALMOST NO CASE does a thesaurus help find words with the same connotation, and in the English language, while writing AND engaging in conversation we must consider not only the definition of words but also the connotation of words. For reference to connotations, a thesaurus is practically useless.

Back to the topic at hand. Did anyone see the article where that slit-eye's grandfather calls him a son of a bitch?http://www.mirror.co.uk/...eid=89520-name_page.html When your sig takes up more space than your entire post, you know you are badass

How about not referring to him as a slit-eye? That might help if you are trying to get people's attention.

Well, "slope" is about the only derogatory word I know of that refers specifically to Koreans, but that term isn't well known. Gook can refer to Koreans, but most associate it with Vietnamese. No sense dragging the real gooks into this when it was that fucked up Cho who murdered defenseless and innocent people in such a shockingly cowardice way. I am glad to see even his own relatives bad-mouthing that fucktard*.*Fucktard - WDF Copyright 2001 When your sig takes up more space than your entire post, you know you are badass

Yes, that is precisely my point. While racism may be allowed, it doesn't necessarily mean it is tolerated. When you post racist shit it pisses most of us off and motivates us to give you shit about it. It doesn't mean we will try to get you banned or get your racist comments deleted (i.e. we are allowing your ignorance but don't tolerate it). Even if it were in my control I wouldn't censor you, I would just point out that you are an ignorant jackass and hope you eventually see just how completely stupid racism is. I do agree that connotations differ based on regional, cultural, and educational backgrounds. In the future I will find something better to split hairs over with you. Why are you racist anyway? Is it the classic "my race is superior" thing? It seems like that's been making a comeback in suburbia. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

Try harder when you google shit. yet.... your saying there is only one kind of intelligence.... ergo this intelligence that applies to adults and children alike, so your first argumant is negated... and then you mention mental capactiy... ummm... everysingle form of intelligence is linked to mental capacticy, but one's mental capacticity differs in key areas. You obviously have no social tact, or empathy/ compassion. Empathy itself by your definition of intelligence is a form of intelligence, second argument rendered useless. oh and by the way? our intelligence frames our personality. notice he says kids with this intelligence have this type of personality. that google was just a quick example, i'm busy studying for exams, i don't want to have to bring out my old psychology textbooks and crap. go do some research on the area and use a bit of common sense and you'll see what i mean Elf wrote:IN ALMOST NO CASE does a thesaurus help find words with the same connotation, and in the English language, while writing AND engaging in conversation we must consider not only the definition of words but also the connotation of words. language is based on common connotations for words. it evolves and changes based on changes of these connotaions, and a definition of a word is rendered useless over time, a static analysis of meaning that does not apply to context or make no reference to the evolutionary development of language. the commonly implied meanings are more important to the functioning of any language than a definition. if anything the definitions are secondary (derived after the fact from the connotations) and the implied meanings are more important. argument useless. just get the fuck out... go... racist humour is one thing, but we're not a branch of the KKK or similar... Being a serious racist isn't cool no matter what the rules. That being said we need to all learn to laugh at each other.
p.s.
This should be a thread honoring the victims of VT. Stop the stupid bickering.

Language exists to convey thoughts and ideas to others. Saying the secondary or subjective meaning of a word is more important than the primary meaning is not true. Once a secondary meaning of a word becomes the most important or common meaning, that meaning then becomes the primary meaning. Connotations generally refine the meaning of a word. Using a word and expecting people to know what you mean instead of actually saying what you mean causes you to fail at conveying your thoughts and ideas. Unless you elaborate when you mean to use a word in a sense other than the commonly accepted one you might not get your idea across. Implied meanings might work well in person when things like tone and sarcasm are clearer. The same cannot be said when it is in writing. Say what you mean. Don't expect other people will have the same arbitrary definitions as you. Besides, I think Dick Cheney's Mechanical Heart brought up this whole connotation thing to cover for the fact he didn't even know the rules of this forum, even though he has made numerous posts.
Exactly which defintion of "tolerate" are you using, Dick? There are a number to choose from: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tolerate If you don't mean any of those definitions, where can I find a list of connotations for that word?
I don't consider myself racist. Some people might think this is racist:
Dick Cheney's Mechanical Heart wrote: Brits are the Americans of Europe
I don't really consider that racist. Neither is throwing a slur or two around. What is this, some sort of politically correct hippy forum? If anyone is that thin-skinned, they need to get bent. When your sig takes up more space than your entire post, you know you are badass

And here I thought we were done splitting hairs! In my mind I define toleration and acceptance as having subtle differences depending on context. As I previously conceded, my mind is not the universe and there are variations in how other people define toleration and acceptance. Some people, particularly (and possible even exclusively) racists, define tolerance and acceptance exactly the same. I should have used different words so that everyone understood my point and no one became so confused as to think I was somehow trying to distract them from my own ignorance about the forum rules. It's been awhile since I have read the forum rules, but as I recall they are basically "take no prisoners". I have never said that you were in violation of the forum rules, I apologize if I gave you that impression. Re: My comment about the Brits - what people might think that is racist?
