i know in counterstrike there are often fake servers that when you connect to them they actually dump you into other servers - i wonder if there is a way to do this with tf2? we could have a vanilla fake server in the main list that just shuffles people into the real servers. if valve doesnt change i really think we should do everything we possibly can to get ourselves into the main tab, being in custom killed the server traffic completely, we only got regulars coming to the server and it was way harder to get a game going. well honestly , i havnt noticed much effect on our servers at all since the new tab intergration, just last night 3 people said, "I love this server its the best i have played on, i will definatley be commin back" this could be an opportunity to swoop up on all of the players who enjoy custom b4 everyone else catches on. then again it could be a big kick in the ALSKDFJLK.

I second Dragon's question. If I am ever looking for a server to play on besides Tempest, I always use the custom tab.
Valve wants this game to be alive as long as possible, so if they start seeing servers drop, they will make changes to try and prevent it. Nobody is being singled out here. It seems like some very simple organization to me.
When I first started Playing TF2, I wanted to find servers without custom rules or maps so that I could get good. After that I started searching for custom mods and things like the party mod.
Does anyone have an answer to 3Bam's question? If we are delisted, are we off of the charts entirely or just moved to the custom tab? TEAM APARTMENT: No one rocks quite as hard as we do. Completely gone. Last night we were still on the internet tab. When we were in the custom tab we took a major player count hit. Those who aren't concerned will see soon enough.

Another reason to have one vanilla server is to have a server that has tournament conditions for our community to play on. As we get more involved with tournament play (look at Leon's scheduler) I'd like to practice on a standard set up. The short respawn times we play on now does change the play behavior. When we scrimmed with TF2F, The standard respawns hurt us. Their team used strategies that specifically improved survival (group retreats when some were low on health) and used the longer respawn time to cap points against us. I think that having a mix of custom and standard servers would widen the pool of players who use Tempest servers and possibly help us as teams to develop better tournament play. One vanilla server with a rotation of standard tournament maps; all the rest custom.

Last night I was depressed and needed a perkup so i went to play TF2 and lo and behold all three servers were fucking DEAD. There's definitely been a drop and it makes HolyJaw sad. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....

I second this approach and for the same reasons. I think we should take #1 and make it vanilla and advertise the other servers for Custom mode (32 servers, etc.) and the final for custom maps.

these are the pearls of wisdom you get from the STEAM forums. Quote: Actually, he's right on the money.
I hope they ban your custom servers. God I can just picture the crying.

there is a sourcmod patch that gets you off the custom tab and back on the normal one, we run 32 on our hax server and we show up on the main page MakeSureItsCharcoalGrilled wrote: yes. please go fuck yoruself and die.

hax.sam.hall wrote:there is a sourcmod patch that gets you off the custom tab and back on the normal one, we run 32 on our hax server and we show up on the main page Is it new? When the custom tab came out we got segregated there and our player count dropped and the servers were near dead for days, until Whut used a mod to get us back into the main tab. Apparently we got re-segregated and shit is dead again. So unless this mod is new we may have already been there and done that. Are you sure the hax server is still listed? Yeah but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit which is what valve is giving to us.
Forget sending them mail or letters they don't care. Hit them in the pocketbook. Stop buying their shit and tell people to stop as well. We should start a collection to put a full page ad in the NY times to tell the world how much these little dick motherfuckers suck ass..... {pDs}BelligerentPimp wrote: No using the word "fucktard" unless you are refering to TonyRWC or Youngripark.j2. It seems as if some servers are beginning to bypass this. Do you know of anything that could get us back on the Internet tab Whut? Or are we still out of luck? I'm the leetest one here
