I'll argue and say it had a really strong ending.  I mean I hate movies with cheesie  endings.  And oh, they are dead. It was a fucking tactical nuke.
I read ALL your private messages.

Sirus: Wait, you made the recovering alcoholic bring beer?
WDF: This shouldn't surprise you, this is me we're talking about... It'll be a test.

Okay enough of Cloverfield. Let's talk about what Whut wants to talk about. A good story. Let's talk about...

...

... Brokeback Mountain!

Seriously though. They'll probably save the radio broadcasts for a re-release of the DVD. After they do the release, they'll have a director's cut release to get even MORE money. Then they'll have one called "the version you never saw" and have the radio scenes then. I bet. /nod

This really should be another thread but one thing I forgot to mention about No Country for Old Men.  Only at the end did I notice that there was no music at all in this film.  I was so into it that only at the end did I say , "wait a minute,  theres no backround music or soundtrack that has been played..Its been all dialogue and suspense.. " Thats saying something.  I have a theory that generally the movies that are highly successful and I don't mean movies Like Spiderman who draw the Box Office money...... but critically acclaimed movies that have won Oscars and are remembered as classics.  No offense to Spiderman.  I have it and I like the movie.  I mean Movies that are remembered for being iconic or classics like the Star Wars franchise, Raiders series, LOTR, Braveheart ect.

They all had great soundtracks.  The music helped the movie in some capacity and alot of great movies are remembered for that.  Some may not like the movies I have mentioned of course but I used them only as examples since Star Wars and Raiders are already both.  The main focus I am trying get at is that these movies will always have great music as a backdrop that will be the trigger for remembering a that particular film.  An example would be the movie "'The Natural".  Most people can half way whistle the toon that plays when Roy Hobbs hits the final homerun to  win the pennant at the end of the movie when the ball hits the lights.  The peculiar part is No Country had none and was an exceptional film.  Just an thought I had while discussing this thread of Cloverfield.  Anyone have examples of  movies that had great music?

Congratulations on knowing it was based on a book?

If you'll carefully read the post I quoted you'll notice that he explained the ending. What the fuck is your argument about? Reading a book before seeing the movie? Who is "a lot of people"? Nobody fucking does that. Jesus fucking christ, if you're so hell-bent on attacking me at least try to make some logical sense, you cockbite.

wow, normally you try to add some semblence of a coherent counter argument to your posts but that... that's just weak. you're letting the team down.

my point is that if you're placing so much value on the story line you're not really going to a movie like that for the right reasons. the directors interpretation of the storyline is just as important, if not more so with these types of films as clearly the type who are going to be the first to line up for a movie like his are the type who have read the book. besides, the book will have explored the storyline in a much more exhaustive manner...

You're an idiot. Just stop trying.

who says the sound track has to have music? the fact you made it almost the entire movie without noticing the lack of music suggests to me that the film had more than an ample sound track. the point of a sound track is meant to aid immersion in the film, not to place a catchy tune in your head.

Avner, maye you'd feel more at home having an argument like this with the kids in kindergarden? ye seem to share a similar debating technique.
yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

You could argue that the movie was over before it began. I watched a clip of the intro, and the fact that they recovered the tape and were able to make it "Classified" would hint that they defeated "It" and sifted through the rubble.

The other thing is, a video camera would not have survived a nuke.

Well duh, and yeah the EMP would have fried the tape.  Though you have to remember there are high yield traditional bombs with just as much destructive power as a low yield nuke, so "Operation Hammer Drop" could have just been some planes dropping daisy cutters on it.

It would if it were made by Toyota! I've seen their truck commercials!

But anyway...

They say if you overly notice a soundtrack to a movie (unless it's a musical) then there is something wrong with the movie. A soundtrack should be subtle and put emphasis on scenes of a movie and so shouldn't be blatant and over the top (like in Pirates 1). A good soundtack to me would be ... say... the soundtrack to "Mozart" or "Schindler's List". A movie with almost no soundtrack could be "The Exorcist", which plays the theme only at brief times. Honestly, the one thing I don't pay attention to much in a movie is the soundtrack. I only notice it if it's really bad, normally.

Funny thing is that RL I probably suck the most dick out of this group.. ;)
Not that I do it often.. mostly a top.

Anyway for more awesome Cloverfield shit check out this site and after looking at all the pictures just let the page sit for about 6-10 minutes without closing it for a supprise.
http://www.1-18-08.com/

Also I want to know if Marlene was injected with a powerful hemotoxin or if she was impregnated.  I may see the movie again and if I do I'll be paying real close attention to that scene.

Did anybody notice what happened in the  very last scene of the movie?  When the tape ran out and reverted to the 2 week old footage of them at Coney Island when they were on the ferris wheel?  Looked like something dropped into the water off in the distance didn't it?  Like a shooting star or something?  ;)
